      Fire protection curtains

      Fire protection curtains are seal openings in walls and ceilings in case of fire. The constructional set-up (rolling- or folding technology) and the use of different fabrics offer a wide application spectrum as well as different protection targets or classifications and time classes. Casings and side guides of those flexible applicable systems are integrated almost invisibly in the building and provide much scope for design of sophisticated architecture for opened designs.

Wij hebben deze beroemde designleidraad omgedraaid. Waarom? Ter wille van de architectuur en omdat we houden van open-ruimte-concepten. Dit feit, en hoe de spagaat tussen esthetica en brandbeveiliging bij atriums kan slagen, toont indrukwekkend de buitengewone nieuwbouw van het administratiekantoor Südwestmetall in Esslingen.

Het gebouw van de Südwestmetall (vereniging van de metaal- en elektroindustrie van het district Neckar-Fils) blinkt uit door de architectonisch verfijnde gebouwstructuur. Aan de binnenkant maakt een enorm open atrium indruk. Voor luchtruimtes over meerdere etages speelt het thema brandbeveiliging een centrale rol bij de efficiënte rookafvoer in geval van brand. Vooral als het gebruiksconcept een groot aantal personen met zich meebrengt.

Perfecte aanpassing

Brandbeveiliging past harmonisch in het open-ruimteconcept

Verfijnd geïntegreerd in de gebouwstructuur en haast onzichtbaar verbouwd! Twee rookschermen met vijf kanten en verschillende hoeken zorgen in dit uitstekende verband voor een esthetische brandbeveiliging zonder de open architectuur te beïnvloeden.

Esthetica en brandbeveiliging in harmonie

De uitdaging

Bij de nieuwbouw van een kantoorgebouw met een tentoonstellingsruimte voor de Südwestmetall in het district Neckar-Fils in de locatie Esslingen wordt het extravagante bouwsysteem in de vorm van een open-ruimteconcept doorgezet aan de binnenkant. Een atrium dat doorloopt over alle etages verbindt de verdiepingen via een dwars lopende trap en is centraal luchtruim met optimaal gebruik van daglicht.

In geval van brand moeten de etages betrouwbaar worden afgeschermd om de rook te sturen en af te voeren. De open architectuur moet volledig behouden blijven.

Rookschermen met vouwtechniek die ruimte creëren

De oplossing

Aan de basis van de brandbeveiligingsuitvoering ligt een uniforme grondslag toegespitst op het object voor mogelijke branden in het kader van het brandbeveiligingsconcept. De afzonderlijke etages moesten worden afgeschermd om te voorkomen dat de rook zich ongecontroleerd uitbreidt. Twee rookschermen die automatisch in werking treden bij alarm, volgen daarbij de polygonale vorm van het atrium. Door de inbouw in verlaagde plafonds worden de systemen met vijf kanten, die ruimte creëren en vijf verschillende hoeken hebben, niet waargenomen vanuit de positie van de waarnemer, maar bieden toch bescherming in geval van nood. Brandbeveiliging die werkt maar niet opvalt. Wij willen namelijk graag oplossingen geven in de bouwkundige brandbeveiliging, die architecten en planners de mogelijkheid bieden om esthetica en functionaliteit perfect te combineren.
