Technicians' Association Braunschweig visits STÖBICH
The Braunschweig Technical Association has been promoting the interests of its members since 1887. Excursions are regularly on the program, and one of them recently led to Goslar.
At the central production site North of the STÖBICH Group in Goslar, there were comprehensive insights into structural and technical fire protection. After a descriptive lecture on the various fire protection solutions, the visitors took a spin through the showroom before the production tour. Here, one can explore selected exhibits, from ➥ fire and smoke curtains and conveyor enclosures up to the innovative ➥ safety cabinets for lithium-ion batteries. An impressive battery test was then conducted at the development's test center. In addition, the interested club members learned how a ➥ low-pressure water mist system works: it creates a water mist from tiny droplets and thus a larger surface area, which has a higher cooling effect while using less water than conventional extinguishing.
Ideally, a fire is detected at an early stage, and STÖBICH has also developed a system with optical sensors for this purpose, which was also presented. The so-called ➥ FireMultiDetector is used, for example, in recycling yards and frozen food warehouses, where it can prevent devastating large fires.
Finally, there was a fiery demonstration: during a fire test on the outdoor premises, the technicians were able to convince themselves of the insulating function of the high-tech textile, which is subjected to the ➥ Fibershield®-I Fire Curtain gives it its heat-insulating property. "After all, you only feel the heat of the fire very slightly through the thin fabric," marveled the gentlemen from Braunschweig. For them, a successful company outing ended with exciting impressions and new insights. "I had no idea how diverse fire protection can be" was the unanimous conclusion. We were also very pleased!
