Correct planning and execution are essential for fire protection
Stöbich at the Czotscher fire protection day 2016
What consequences does the new model building code have on fire protection? How can accessibility and fire protection be reconciled? How important is planning and the quality of the assembly work on site? These and many other questions were addressed at the 7th Czotscher fire protection day. 115 architects and planners from throughout the Rhine-Main region came to the event.
The Czotscher fire protection day always takes place at different, special locations in the Rhine-Main region. This year it was held at the Schuhbeck’s Check Inn in Egelsbach. Reputed specialists included book author Karl-Olaf Kaiser and Professor Gerd Geburtig. In 2016, the aim was again to create platform upon which manufacturers and planners could discuss important issues. Again, Stöbich, as a leading manufacturer of textile fire protection systems, was invited to present its versatile curtain systems.
This year's event focused the importance of the correct realisation of building-related fire protection elements. At the latest since the disaster at the Berlin airport, it is not only building professionals who are aware of the importance of fire protection and correct planning and installation on site. However there are frequently problems at building sites resulting from growing cost pressures and wage dumping. "A fire protection door will not fulfil its function if it is not installed correctly and precisely in line with the manufacturer's instructions. This is something only trained specialists can do," says Heiko Rinker, authorised signatory at Czotscher. This applies to doors, gates, dampers and textile fire protection systems equally. "Unfortunately, these kinds of safety-relevant elements are often fitted by people with no relevant expertise, which can ultimately lead to problems," says Heiko Rinker. It is therefore advisable to make use of the expertise of the manufacturers and their employees to guarantee that these systems function reliably in a fire.
For the 2016 event, both the chamber of architects and also the chamber of engineers again guarantee the maximum number of possible training points. And like at every fire protection day, there was also a special point on the agenda. This time, Christian Renner, who chaired the event, welcomed a very famous guest. Former football professional Andreas Möller answered questions about the premiere division and European championship, and also spoke about motivation, team spirit and ambition.
