Teamwork with wool: trainees demonstrate leadership qualities

A special kind of excursion: our trainees took on an unusual team task in the Magdeburger Börde: guiding 421 sheep safely across fields and paths. This showed just how much communication, trust and cohesion real teamwork requires.

The aim was to lead an entire flock of sheep together - across fields, along paths and through gates. What initially sounded simple quickly became a challenge: only those who communicated, coordinated and took responsibility were able to lead the animals safely. After a chaotic first round, helpful tips from the shepherd and a "lead trainee" as a natural leadership talent, the herd finally ran in time. Even small crises, such as a group breaking away or an exhausted young animal, were mastered by the teams together with calm, empathy and mutual support.

At the end, the group rewarded themselves with packed lunches and a spontaneous city tour of Halberstadt, organised by the bus driver, who presented his home town with palpable enthusiasm.

This experience impressively demonstrated that leadership means creating trust, taking responsibility and sticking together as a team - values that not only count for us on the pasture, but also in everyday working life.
