STÖBICH supports historic fire brigade

Contemporary witnesses on wheels: With a donation to the ‘Interessengemeinschaft zur Erhaltung historischer Fahrzeuge e.V.’ (Association for the Preservation of Historic Vehicles), STÖBICH wants to enable the costly repair of the turntable ladder of a fire engine from the 1960s.

Too good for the scrapyard: that's what a few dedicated firefighters in Vienenburg thought when they rescued the decommissioned 1957 Opel Blitz at the end of the 1990s, which the city actually wanted to scrap. The fire engine, named ‘Emma’, was purchased for a symbolic D-Mark and lovingly restored – marking the birth of a special association: the ‘Interessengemeinschaft zur Erhaltung historischer Fahrzeuge e.V.’ (IGFW for short). Around 40 members meet regularly to maintain and care for the eight historic fire engines currently in their possession. The aim of the association is to keep the red oldies roadworthy and, of course, to drive them on outings. During the fortnightly ‘services’, the blue lights are repaired, all technical parts are professionally lubricated, the engines are inspected, the pumps are repaired and the turntable of the turntable ladder is made operational again.

Speaking of turntable ladders: the DL 30 turntable ladder vehicle from 1964 is due for a costly repair of the turntable ladder at a specialist workshop in Kassel. The association is currently collecting donations for this, and STÖBICH, as a traditional Goslar fire protection company and partner of the Goslar fire brigade, is happy to join in.
