      Fire protection curtains

      Fire protection curtains are seal openings in walls and ceilings in case of fire. The constructional set-up (rolling- or folding technology) and the use of different fabrics offer a wide application spectrum as well as different protection targets or classifications and time classes. Casings and side guides of those flexible applicable systems are integrated almost invisibly in the building and provide much scope for design of sophisticated architecture for opened designs.

      Manifold production - and logisitc processes require different construction types of conveying systems. If the haulage drifts are passing through fire-retarding resp. fire-resisting walls or ceilings, the necessary openings must be provided with fire protection closures to avoid the expansion of the fire by conveyor technique or by conveyed material. In case of fire the conveyor system closures have to seal those openings immediately and automatically. Thereby a classified fire resistance as well as the smoothly clearing of the closing area must be respected in case of release.

Review of the EIPOS Fire Protection Expert Days 2025

The 26th EIPOS Fire Protection Expert Days were all about innovation, sustainability and practical relevance. Over 1,000 experts gathered at the Dresden Exhibition Centre on 17 and 18 November 2025 – including fire protection experts from STÖBICH.

EIPOS Fire Protection Expert Days 2025: This established symposium is one of the most important industry gatherings for fire protection planners and experts, employees from building permit authorities and the industry.

This year's focus was on sustainable fire protection: timber construction and renewable insulation materials can be used safely with suitable cladding and new extinguishing methods. Initial research into clay building materials shows potential, but there is a need for standardisation. When dealing with existing buildings, careful documentation and risk-oriented adjustments were emphasised. The total revision of Swiss regulations with a clear risk orientation provided international impetus. Overall, the event demonstrated the shift towards greater sustainability, innovation and interdisciplinary cooperation.

STÖBICH also showcased its innovative approach: at our three-dimensional exhibition stand, we presented preventive structural fire protection using textile construction methods and advised interested visitors on our wide range of solutions.
