"The Harz will look different - but fit for the future"
What pests, drought and climate change do and how we can counteract them. Dr Sophie Ehrhardt, hydrogeologist and forest expert from the Julius Kühn Institute, in an interview with STÖBICH.
Our roots are in the Harz Mountains and so is our shared responsibility for the forest. At STÖBICH's headquarters in Goslar, we are confronted with forest dieback on a daily basis.
Drought stress, bark beetles and climate change are having a massive impact on our forests. But there is hope, because the Harz Mountains are on the brink of profound change. By working together, we can actively shape the future of the forest.
In an interview with Dr Sophie Ehrhardt, hydrogeologist and forest expert from the Julius Kühn Institute, we talk about the biggest challenges and the opportunities they present. We also show how reforestation campaigns and conservation measures can make a valuable contribution.
