Battery safety: demonstration for KIM occupational safety working group
At a STÖBICH information event, KIM members learned a lot about the safe handling of lithium-ion batteries and were treated to an explosive demonstration.
Lithium-ion batteries pose potential hazards, so it is essential to handle them safely. At STÖBICH, we are experts in battery safety and fire protection for energy storage systems, and we organised an information event on this topic at the beginning of November.
Fifteen members of the KIM Cooperation Initiative for Mechanical Engineering visited us at STÖBICH's headquarters in Goslar. After a welcome and company presentation, our Head of Testing & Consulting, Marc Dinse, gave an informative lecture.
Our visitors found the insight into the battery centre, including a live demonstration, particularly exciting: from a safe distance, they were able to witness first-hand how a lithium battery can be set on fire by nail penetration – one of the typical test scenarios we carry out for customers. We also test our own products here: our innovative ➥ storage and charging solutions for lithium-ion batteries.
