Weleda AG is a global leader in the production of certified natural cosmetics and anthroposophic medicines. This connection to nature is also evident in the modern logistics center in Schwäbisch Gmünd, which is characterized by sustainable industrial architecture: During the construction of the Weleda Cradle Campus, natural and regional materials such as local woods and clay were used, which reduce CO₂ emissions while creating a unique atmosphere. The wooden high-bay warehouse and rammed earth walls enable an energy-efficient indoor climate without conventional HVAC systems. The building is also fully fossil-fuel-free, relying on geothermal energy and solar power for climate control. The grounds have also been renaturalized and ecologically enhanced: orchard meadows, flowering fields, and herb strips actively promote biodiversity in the outdoor areas.
In this architectural beacon for ecological construction, the structural fire protection is also future-proof: Five space-saving GCC conveyor system fire barriers ensure safety for the conveyor systems that transport Weleda products to their destinations. Advantage: The slim fire barriers for rail-mounted conveyor systems make efficient use of the available space.
