Where radio, TV and the internet come together under one roof, one thing is needed above all else: short distances and plenty of space for interaction. The WDR Filmhaus on Cologne’s Appellhofplatz has been transformed from a traditional film centre into a modern, integrated media centre. A spacious atrium with bridges and staircases connects the floors, whilst the foyer and newsroom serve as the hub of communication. The new façade, featuring differently printed glass slats and vertical sun-shading elements, adds a dynamic touch not far from Cologne Cathedral. Inside, our Fiberseal smoke control curtains ensure that openness and safety can be combined architecturally – discreetly integrated when not in use, reliably on hand when it matters most.
