Justizpalast, Amsterdam, Holland

At the beginning of December 2012 the palace of Justice designed by architect Claus en Kaan as a replacement for the old building that had become too small was completed. The new building has a floor space covering 34,000 sqm for 700 workplaces, 19 courtrooms and 26 cells for defendants. Due to the nature of how the rooms are used, the security requirements were high which is why the inner rooms were split into two zones - a public zone and a security zone to which only authorized persons have access. The shape of the building posed many problems, which could however be solved with suitable solutions.
