All-rounder for large surfaces in the New clinic Minden
New clinic Minden
Three-year construction period, 210 million euros, a useful space of 46,000 sqm, 864 beds... The new Johannes Wesling Clinic in Minden that was opened in 2008 not only sets standards in the medical field. In particular, the modern fire and smoke protection systems make this building complex a role model in terms of safety.
According to §2 (3) Building regulations for NRW for customised structures, special requirements applied for the new clinic as defined in a fire protection expertise drawn up for this building. For instance, a smoke-proof, partially thermally insulating smoke protection closure EW30 RS needed to be installed. This requirement was met by the textile smoke protection curtain Fiberseal in combination with the partially thermally insulating Heliotex fabric.
Streamlined smoke protection systems for large surfaces
Stöbich installed almost 40 textile smoke protection curtains and textile smoke protection closures on four building levels. The main point of focus here was the patient and visitor magistrate where 25 systems were installed on the various levels. The compact casing dimensions allowed the textile curtain systems to be completely integrated into the architecture where alternative closures would have taken up too much space or where the openings that needed to be closed would have simply been too big. When idle, the systems are invisible and only move down automatically in a fail-safe manner when an alarm is sounded. Fire-resistant cable are therefore not required. In addition, other smoke protection closures were installed near the access to the store and the kitchen. Stöbich was also commissioned to install more than 40 of its brake systems with connected smoke detector systems.
Shielding lift shafts
Even if lift shaft doors have an adequate fire resistance quality, they are not smoke-proof. Therefore, Stöbich also installed some of its textile smoke protection closures directly in front of the lifts. These space-saving systems are smoke-proof and approved according to DIN 18095-3. An integrated control unit ensures that they close in a controlled manner so that the lifts can be evacuated safely. This also meant that there was no need for anterooms with smoke protection doors.

product description Ecclos-Q
The horizontally rotatable shutter construction requires very little space in the lintel area, making it an alternative to conventional gate valve closures. The ECClos-Q meets the requirements of the classifications EI 30 to EI 120 and EW 240 (gas concrete). The shutter blade is made in a very stable sandwich construction and completely enclosed by a sheet metal cover. The ECClos-Q is suitable for continuous and separate conveyor systems, such as baggage belt conveyors. For continuous conveying techniques, the fixed field is customized and the surface can be designed according to customer requirements in various designs.
